With the aim of reducing damaging conflict which leads to crime, violence and homelessness, the Dispute Settlement Center (DSC) of western Connecticut, a non-profit, offers a range of skilled conflict resolution services. Since 1990, DSC's services have allowed for a unique opportunity for victims and offenders, kids engulfed in conflict at school and others to discuss an incident in a safe private place, which enables them to create their own agreement to repair the harm and prevent future incidents. Studies have shown that mediation and other restorative dialogue techniques reduce recidivism.
DSC merged with and is now a division of the Regional Youth-Adult Social Action Partnership (RYASAP). For more information on RYASAP please go to their web site www.ryasap.org.
Operating throughout western Connecticut, our mediators, facilitators and trainers draw upon a rich background of education and life experiences. Our systems change work uses a balance of training, process design, coaching and follow-on workshops to ensure the continuation of restorative techniques in the specific setting. We have helped thousands of people resolve disputes over the years with over 90% of those who come to the table reaching an agreement on how to move forward.
