We provide mediation services to several adult criminal courts in Connecticut — Bridgeport, Norwalk and Waterbury. In Bridgeport and Norwalk, we have been the sole provider of mediation services for over 15 years, and for Waterbury since 2001. Our mediators in the courts help to settle dozens of cases each month that the court feels can be better handled outside of the courtroom and between the parties themselves. In a single year, DSC mediates typically over 1800 cases for the courts, helping to reduce the backlog in the court system. Currently some courts in Connecticut have case backlogs stretching over 600 days. We successfully settle well over 90% of these court cases where the parties come to mediation.

We work with prosecutors, judges, defense attorneys and mediation participants to make our program accessible, reliable, and effective. There are no fees to participants in court-based mediation as costs are covered by state and local grants.
